Shelby County Christmas Parade

Due to deteriorating weather conditions forecast for our area and the information received from the National Weather Service over last couple days, the 2013 Christmas Parade will be cancelled.
 
This decision was based on public safety. We realize the weather system is supposed to be through the area early Saturday morning but with temperatures below freezing, we feel that there still will be a public safety issue with the participants and those who come out to watch the parade.
 
We are also concerned about causing a delay for road crews who are working on clearing roadways.
 
The parade will NOT be rescheduled due to other conflicts with organizers for the next couple weekends.
 
We realize that the organizations that entered floats have spent a lot of time, energy and money in preparing their floats. We would like for the floats that have entered the parade to meet at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on Saturday December 14 at 11:00am.  We will judge the floats then and the community is encouraged to come to see the floats. Santa will make an special appearance on this day as well.
 
We apologize to the community of Shelby County, but the Shelby County Fire Department is in business of saving lives and property and we feel the safety of the participants and the community is the utmost priority.
